Do you work in the Winter Months?
Yes. At Cohen & Master we work all year round. While some of our plant and soil health treatments are seasonal, we can do any pruning, removal and cabling work at any time of year.
Can I get a quote over the phone?
Because every tree and property are different and come with their own unique challenges and logistics, we are unable to provide quotes for tree work over the phone.
In emergency situations, providing photographs of the damaged limbs or trees can help us expedite the process of mobilizing a crew out to your property to deal with the hazard.
Do I need to meet with the arborist to get a quote?
We prefer to meet with you on site to go over your requests/concerns. However, if your schedule does not allow you to meet with one of our arborists, we can have them go by on their own to review the property and put a quote together for you.
Do I need to be home when the crew or technician comes by to perform the work?
You do not need to be home when our crews or technicians come out to perform the work. We just ask that gates are unlocked and, in the case of removal or pruning, that the driveway is clear of cars.
How long will it take to have my work scheduled after I approve my quote?
We do our best to get your work scheduled in a timely manner, however the timing can depend on a few factors.
For Plant Health Care, the treatments are seasonal, and often time-sensitive within a season, so your visit will be scheduled within its most optimized treatment window.
For tree removals, pruning or planting, timing can depend on whether your job requires any specific logistics. Examples include: a tree removal permit, a Contractor’s Agreement to Prune City Trees, or Underground Locates for front yard tree plantings.
We will always do our best to work within a timeline that works for you, while making sure we complete any required logistics in advance.
Can I prune my neighbour’s tree if it hangs over my yard?
While you can prune the portion of your neighbour’s tree that hangs over your yard, we always want permission from your neighbours before we do any pruning on their trees – even if all the work is being done on your property. We will often need to request access to their yard to clean up any sawdust or twigs that may have landed on their side at the end of the work day, and getting permission in advance ensures that the work day goes smoothly for everyone involved.
Can my treatment be done if it’s raining?
Many of our treatments can be done in any weather, however, a few are weather-dependent. Any of our foliar or oil sprays cannot be done while it’s raining, as they often require time to “set.” If you have a scheduled treatment on a day that it rains, we will notify you with a rescheduled date.
What is the best time of year to plant a tree?
Trees can be planted anytime that the soil is soft enough to dig. The planting season typically lasts from Mid-April until Mid-November.
